Our Commitment to Safety and confidentiality:
Please make sure you are in a safe place when you use the text or live chat service.
If at any point you no longer wish to communicate with us, you may opt out by texting the word STOP or ending the live chat session.
All communication sent to the Childhelp text line or live chat service is confidential. In most cases, we will not share your information or confirm that you have contacted us without your consent.
In limited circumstances, we may have to contact law enforcement. For example, if we learn that a child is in danger, being abused, or if we have reason to believe that you or someone else is in immediate danger and we have identifying information, or if we are otherwise required to by law. To the extent possible, we will always let you know if we have to make a report to law enforcement.
If at any point during the conversation we don’t receive a response from you within 15 minutes, we will have to end the conversation to assist other users. For your safety, we will not communicate back to you after 15 minutes have passed. We will communicate with you only after you have reached out to us again to start a new conversation.
If you have questions at any time during the conversation, don’t hesitate to ask the Childhelp counselor for more information.
Please visit our policies page for more important information.
