2012 Drive the Dream Gala Accelerates Childhelp’s Cause

Dreams came true at the annual Childhelp Drive the Dream Gala. This year’s theme, “A Night of American Dreams”, was a night for the record books, full of gourmet food, celebrities, local philanthropists and great entertainment by award-winning singer and songwriter Michael Bolton.

The Childhelp Drive the Dream Gala, co-hosted by Barrett-Jackson and held in conjunction with the world-famous Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event, garners some of the Valley’s most-celebrated personalities and is Childhelp's largest fundraising gala of the year. Back for a third year of service as event co-chairs were Missy Anderson, Jinger Richardson and Susie Wesley. The honorary chairs were Laurie and Bill Eckholm and the event advisor was Carol Hebets, Childhelp National Board member.

As if the star-studded event was not already a large enough display, attendees were treated to fabulous fare provided by Chef Michael DeMaria of Heirloom restaurant. The energy was kept high with world-class live entertainment by Michael Bolton, Stealing Angels, Heros and Robbie Britt. True to the nature of the event’s venue, unique prize packages were auctioned off live. Some of the highlights included, “Girl’s Night Out” which included a $30,000 Molina gift card and dinner with Hell’s Kitchen Sous Chef, Scott Leibfried; the “Two Tickets to Paradise” package to Nevis, West Indies for 9-nights at three luxury resorts; a “Cabo Dream“ package that included a 7-night stay, golf, room massages and private jet transportation. Emcees for the evening were Childhelp ambassadors, actor John O’Hurley and Arizona media personality Tara Hitchcock.

Kathie Lee Gifford, co-host of The Today Show was honored with the Childhelp Spirit of the Children award. Singer-songwriter, actress, host and presenter, Gifford has appeared on many television shows and formerly co-hosted Live with Regis and Kathie Lee. She has been a long-standing advocate for children’s rights and the prevention of abuse.

Former prosecutor turned journalist, Nancy Grace was this year’s recipient of the Childhelp Positive Impact in the Media Award. Grace is the host of Nancy Grace on CNN and recently was included in the cast of Dancing With The Stars. Her voice and her platform help bring critical awareness to the epidemic of child abuse in the United States.
