Jordin Sparks Gets M.A.D. About Child Abuse
Posted 05/09/2012 by Childhelp
In April, the 23-year-old, 2007 American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, visited the Childhelp Alice C. Tyler Village in Lignum, Virginia with Co-Founders Sara O’Meara and Yvonne Fedderson and other guests from Jordin’s I’m M.A.D. Are You? campaign. The guests toured the Village spending time with the children and learning about the work Childhelp does. Jordin even took the time to sing one of her songs “One Step At a Time” with some of the girls at the Village!
“This was an amazing day of playing with the children, singing, and seeing everything that Childhlep is doing for children who have suffered from abuse and neglect. What an awesome day!” said Jordin about her experience at Childhelp on Facebook.
Words can’t express the impact Jordin's visit had on the children at the Childhelp Village in Virginia. The joy on their faces was clear as they talked, played and sang with this very special superstar with a very big heart.
Jordin has set out to “Make A Difference” in the world through her I’m M.A.D. Are You? campaign, and her involvement and heartfelt support of Childhelp since her visit to the Village is testiment to the remarkable difference she will be able to make, as well as those she inspires.
It was a big day for Childhelp on Capitol Hill April 18, when Jordin joined representatives of Congress, the Senate, and the media to talk about how we can all make a difference in the fight against child abuse at the Childhelp National Day of Hope Luncheon. She touched our hearts by sharing what supporting Childhelp means to her and the impact her visit to the Childhelp Village had on her.
But her day wasn't over yet. That night she joined Childhelp once again for the Childhelp Capitol CAREaoke event at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC bringing together a variety of celebrities and media and television personalities for a fun-filled night of karaoke and fundraising. A chance to get up on stage and sign with Jordin was raffled off for over $15,000 for the fight against child abuse. We are thrilled to have Jordin teaming up with us once again May 9, 2012 for the Ogletree Deakins Charity Reception (Wednesday 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.).**
We truly thank Jordin and her foundation I'm M.A.D. Are You? for joining our Childhelp family and speaking up against child abuse.
