Steel Mesh Used to Confine 4-year-old Ohio Girl

A Cage-like enclosure was found by Fairfield County Deputies around the bed of a 4-year-old Ohio girl on Tuesday. Reports say the cage was used to confine the girl to her bed by locking a screen door with a latch and deadbolt. Both parents are being held on a $500,000 bond.
This case is still under investigation.
The images you see above tell enough of a story to break anyone’s heart. We see similar stories on the news about animal cruelty, with images of devastating conditions and crude cages. We cry at the thought of such cruelty toward animals. It brings tears to our eyes when we see their sad faces looking out at us through the bars and we’re moved to take action.
When it comes to a child being locked up, you’ll never see images of her sad face from behind the wire that holds her. We instinctively know that she needs to be protected from the world’s view, but this also leaves us with a space in our mind where we can continue to believe that tragedies like this don’t actually exist in the world.
We can’t continue to think like this. Child abuse is very real. As real as the tragedy of 10-year-old Ame Deal found dead, locked in a foot locker one year ago today – a punishment for stealing a popsicle from the freezer.
A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds in the United States, and Childhelp invites you to join us in bringing an end to this epidemic. Make a difference in the life of a child like this little Ohio girl and become a ChildHelper.
