The Third Annual Childhelp Desert Classic Tennis Tournament held in Mission Hills, California was a huge success! Pros from across the globe came out to the USTA Women’s Pro Circuit Challenger to benefit the Childhelp Merv Griffin Village in Beaumont, California. With more than 90 tournaments throughout the country, the USTA Pro Circuit is the pathway to the US Open and tour-level competition for aspiring tennis players and established professionals. Qualifying for the tournament took place February 6th and 7th with main draw matches starting Tuesday, February 8th. Congratulations to American Ashley Weinhold who fought back after going down a break in the third set to beat Czech Republic's Kristyna Pliskova, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, to win the single’s title.
Special thanks to Judy Jensen, Mission Hills Country Club, the USTA, the ITF, all of the amazing athletes who participated and event co-chairs Jackie Cooper and Lornie Kuhle for making the event such a success. We also thank Rick Nuffer of Laguna Beach Photography for beautifully capturing the event and creating a video for us to share. Enjoy.
