Thank you 2011! Here we come, 2012!

2011 brought many great things to Childhelp over the course of the year. With so much that has happened we wanted to highlight some of our favorite events, developments and accomplishments, and express our gratitude to all of our supporters, friends, and Childhelp family.
In January our 7th annual Drive the Dream Gala kicked off 2011 in a big way, carrying on the legacy of the event as a spectacle of wondrous proportions. Willie Nelson, Childhelp celebrity ambassador John O’Hurley, and Jane Seymour were a few of the many celebrities in attendance.
With the help of our Childhelp Wings program, Childhelp Merv Griffin Village opened its Therapy Garden. The garden is a non-traditional method to reach abused, neglected, and at-risk youth. The children can see progress right before their eyes as the seeds they nurture grow and blossom. The garden also provides a calm, tranquil, environment for the children that offers them quiet time.
World’s collided in our Hope PSA. Actress Betty White, NBA All-star Shaquille O’Neal, and rock chart-toppers Buckcherry donated their voices to build awareness of child abuse for Childhelp. We are thankful to have such big support from such a diverse celebrity cast. We are also thankful for the guidance and support of our newest Ambassador - Marianne Williamson - whose voice for humanity reaches far and wide.
2011 marked the year our child abuse prevention curriculum, Speak Up Be Safe TM , — the evolution of Good-Touch, Bad Touch TM — was launched. Co-developed with Arizona State University, and tested in Florida schools, the curriculum provides a 21st century approach to the prevention of abuse that emphasizes adult responsibility by engaging parents, caregivers, teachers, school administrators and community stakeholders and more.
To celebrate the holidays and give the children in our care a celebration - we again held our annual Holiday party at the Beaumont Village with Emcee John Stamos. The children performed holiday songs and dances for an adoring crowd of Childhelp friends and partners who support us throughout the year.
We love connecting with all of you through social media and you thank you for your amazing support! Through your social media votes and helping us build word of mouth campaigns- we won two social vote contests: Toyota's 100 Cars for Good Campaign and the Zoomerang Give back campaign. Your votes helped us bring home a new Toyota van and $1000 in cash for the kids.
Right up until the clock struck midnight, 2011 was an excellent year. Megyn Kelly, of Fox’s All-American New Year’s Show with Megyn Kelly and Bill Hemmer, thanked Childhelp’s founders for their relentless service to end child abuse by including them in her wish on the New Year’s Eve Wishing Wall in Time Square New York City. The wishes were launched into the air with two thousand pounds of confetti during the Times Square New Year’s Eve Celebration. Thanks for your wish, Megyn! For those of you who missed it, here is her wish: "My wish is that children who are suffering will find helath, hope and happiness this year - thanks to angels like the women behind Childhelp.org."
Despite our many accomplishments and successes, 2011 also reminded us we still have challenges ahead of us with events like that at Penn State and Syracuse . While we anticipate and look forward to another successful and productive year in 2012, we encourage you to continue to show your support in any way you can. For the love of a child.blog comments powered by Disqus
