Laura Bush awarded Childhelp's Woman of the Year Award

accepted the award from Childhelp Co-Founders Sara O’Meara and Yvonne
Fedderson. Also in attendance were
Childhelp National Board members and Childhelp Celebrity Ambassadors Rick
Schroder, Casper Van Dien and Catherine Oxenberg.
“The First Lady truly deserves the Woman of the World award
because of her never ending commitment to children in the United States and across the
world,” said Childhelp Co-Founder and CEO Sara O’Meara. “With the Helping
America’s Youth Initiative, her Character and Community Initiative and her
global efforts for children- she exemplifies the mission of Childhelp and makes
helping children a priority in her life.”
Since 1964, the Woman of the World award has recognized outstanding
contributions by women who have bettered children’s lives and humankind in
general. Past recipients who have
personally accepted the Woman of the World Award
include: Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Bush,
Lynne Cheney, Betty Ford, Jane Seymour, Cheryl Ladd, Kathie Lee Gifford,
Barbara Sinatra, Betty White, Mary Hart, Marlo Thomas and Abigail Van Buren.
