Phoenix Coyotes Spotlight Child Abuse Prevention in November
Charity Division of Team to Help Raise Awareness; Supports Childhelp® and West Valley Child Crisis Center
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Scottsdale, Ariz.—(Nov. 10,
2006) Coyote Causes, the charitable arm of the Phoenix Coyotes Hockey
Club, will focus on child abuse prevention awareness throughout
November. The high-profile team has partnered with Scottsdale-based
Childhelp, a leading national non-profit dedicated to the prevention
and treatment of child abuse and neglect, and the West Valley Child
Crisis Center, which houses abused children.
Childhelp public service announcements featuring
players Ladislav Nagy and Georges Laraque, as well as Senior Vice
President of Hockey Operations Cliff Fletcher and his wife Linda, will
air during the Coyotes games in Glendale’s Jobing.com Arena on Nov. 11,
22 and 30. At each game, fans will have the opportunity to bid on an
autographed Coyotes jersey with an embroidered Childhelp logo.
Attendees can learn more about Childhelp by visiting its booth, where
they will find brochures, bracelets and pins.
What’s more, the Coyote’s dance team, The Pack, will
support Childhelp by appearing at Z’s Restaurant in Tempe for a
fundraising event on Nov. 18.
On Nov. 22, the wives of the Coyotes will host a drive
with Swift Charities for Children to benefit Childhelp and the West
Valley Child Crisis Center. Before the game starts, they will arrive at
the arena to collect items such as clothing, toys, pajamas, slippers,
shoes, toiletries, arts and crafts. Every fan who donates will be
entered into a raffle to meet Ladislav Nagy and Georges Laraque after
the game.
“We’re very grateful to the Coyotes for embracing
Childhelp and supporting us through their charitable outreach—this will
help to educate more people about the silent and heart-breaking
epidemic of child abuse, and how to join in the battle to eradicate it
in this country,” said John Reid, executive director of Childhelp.
Coyotes Causes is a partnership program designed to
help community causes and initiatives. Every month, the Phoenix Coyotes
will adopt a cause and lend a hand in promoting awareness.
