On May 1, Childhelp began operations of a renewed program for the treatment and prevention of child abuse in Payson, Arizona. The Childhelp Gila Child Advocacy Center brings aboard the program and takes over operations of the Gila Family Advocacy Center, which first opened in Payson in April 2007.

While emergency efforts bring immediate relief to Haiti, Craig Juntunen, founder of Chances for Children, launched the "Haiti Renewal Fund" January 19. The fund, designed to assist in a fresh renewal of the devastated nation of Haiti, opens with an initial matching grant of $2 million from Jackson Hole residents Lynn and Foster Friess augmented by a subsequent $1 million from Childhelp, drawn from donations specifically designated to the fund. In a national show of support, 22 Governors spoke up and pledged their support to do all they could to end the epidemic of child abuse in America. The resolution is part of a national campaign that child abuse prevention organization Childhelp has launched to raise awareness of the cause of child abuse. According to a set of newly released statistics, 1760 children died in the U.S. in 2007 from child abuse and neglect – or nearly five children per day. Read More »
