Childhelp Hires New Executive Director
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA (June 9, 2010) –Childhelp, a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping abused, neglected and at-risk children, is proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Lorrie Henderson, PhD, MBA, LCSW as Executive Director.
As executive director, Dr. Henderson will be responsible for management of Childhelp, including providing strategic leadership and establishing long-range planning in the areas of staffing, budgeting, and business planning and administration. Working from Childhelp’s Scottsdale, Arizona headquarters, Dr. Henderson will oversee operations and programs throughout the country ensuring that the services offered to children, adolescents, and families continue to be of the highest quality within the behavioral healthcare industry.

Dr. Henderson has over 25 years of leadership experience in the field of behavioral health including psychiatric hospitals, foster care, residential care, group homes, schools, and outpatient settings. Prior to coming to Childhelp, Dr. Henderson was Chief Clinical Officer and Senior Vice-President of Devereux, a national behavioral healthcare provider for children, adolescents, and adults, headquartered at Villanova, PA. Prior to that he was Acting President and CEO, as well as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of KidsPeace, Inc. headquartered in Schnecksville, PA. KidsPeace is also a national behavioral healthcare provider.
Dr. Henderson has served on multiple national boards and is currently on the Autism Speaks National Family Services Board. Dr Henderson has conducted research, published, and presented numerous journal articles on a variety of behavioral health topics.
Dr. Henderson earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Florida Atlantic University, a master’s degree in social work from Florida International University, and a PhD in social work from Barry University in Florida. In 2005, Dr. Henderson earned an MBA, summa cum laude, from Jones International University. He is also a licensed clinical social worker.
In 2009, Childhelp commemorated 50 years of bringing the light of hope and healing into the lives of countless children. CEO and Co-Founder Sara O’Meara and President and Co-Founder Yvonne Fedderson started Childhelp in 1959, establishing it as a leading national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect and at-risk children.
