ORIGAMI OWL AND CHILDHELP SAVING LIVES TOGETHER

Over 100,000 students received “Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe®” from initial donation

PHOENIX (August 19, 2014)Origami Owl®, a national jewelry company known for its customizable jewelry and signature Living Lockets® has committed additional financial support in its partnership with Childhelp®, the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit advocating for abused and neglected children. The two Phoenix-based companies’ previously announced a partnership in April for financial support to Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe, a comprehensive child abuse and bullying prevention education program for schools around the country.

Founder of Origami Owl, Bella Weems, has committed 100 percent of the profits from her debut single, “Find Your Voice,” to Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe from the release date August 12 to December 31, 2014. Weems performs and co-wrote the song, which will be available on iTunes. The song was written to inspire children under the care of Childhelp to speak up and find their voice. “Find Your Voice” premiered during the recent Origami Owl convention in Phoenix to the surprise and delight of the two Childhelp founders who had no idea Bella had written a song in honor of the children.

Bella Weems states “After visiting with the children in Childhelp’s care I made it my personal goal to write a song for them.  I wanted the song to be uplifting since they have already been through so much heartache.  Titling the song “Find Your Voice” seemed perfect since the Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe program is doing just that, helping these wonderful kids find their voice so they can speak up for themselves.”

Following the initial partnership in April, 108,328 students across the country, so far this year, have received access to Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe as a direct result of Origami Owl’s financial support. Origami Owl’s donations also funded the expansion of the Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe curriculum from first grade through sixth grade to include pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, allowing the program to expand into 11 additional states. An evolution of Good Touch Bad Touch™, Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe is a universal prevention program targeting child abuse, neglect and societal risks.

Origami Owl’s customizable Living Lockets® and charms are sold across the country by a sales force of more than 70,000 Independent Designers who host in-home parties called Jewelry Bars®. Last spring, Origami Owl released two charms, The Bully Proof Shield and the Hand With Heart, to benefit Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe with over 33,000 sold to date. To further its commitment, Origami Owl has added another exclusive charm, The Childhelp Dove, to be released August 18, profits of which will benefit Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe.  Consumers can purchase all three charms, to include in their Origami Owl lockets, by contacting a local Origami Owl Independent Designer at origamiowl.com.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Bella and Origami Owl, not to mention the hard-working Designers who are selling these charms across the country,” stated Fedderson. “Through the support of individuals and companies like Origami Owl, we hope to see widespread adoption of the Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe program so we can lower and eradicate the number of children abused each day. Five children is Five Too Many™.”

Origami Owl’s mission to be a force for good; to love, inspire and motivate people of all ages to reach their dreams and empower them to make a difference in the lives of others, is in direct alignment with Childhelp’s mission.
