St. John Breaks Sales Records During National Day of Giving
10/19/2006
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Scottsdale, Ariz.—(Oct. 16, 2006) St. John and Childhelp capped a year of teamwork when style-setters across the nation opened their hearts and purses to support the battle against child abuse. On Oct. 7, 2006, the designated “Focus Day,” a percentage of all St. John sales benefited Childhelp. The national campaign raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the non-profit, and broke St. John’s single-day sales records dating from November of 2002.
Participating department stores included Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom,
Marshall Fields/Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus and Belk, as well
as all St. John Boutiques. Several retailers hosted special in-store
events to celebrate the day’s charitable theme. Visit
www.stjohnknits.com for the full list of retailers.
Committed to children’s causes, St. John chose to partner with
Childhelp, a leading national non-profit dedicated to the prevention
and treatment of child abuse for this charitable initiative. Individual
fundraising events were held throughout 2006 in various St. John
locations prior to the Oct. 7th grand finale.
“What a touching whirlwind it has been throughout this energetic
undertaking by St. John to help our mission toward healing the
traumatized children in our country,” said Sara O’Meara, who co-founded
Childhelp along with Yvonne Fedderson. Both women are also 2005 and
2006 Nobel Peace Prize nominees.
“We are deeply grateful for the outreach and generosity that enables us
to continue helping the children who so desperately need our love and
care,” said Yvonne Fedderson.
