St. John Knits And Childhelp® Team-Up in the War Against Child Abuse
Scottsdale, Ariz.—(Oct. 2, 2006) Childhelp and St. John have partnered in the fight to eradicate child abuse and neglect through a series of fundraisers in several markets that will peak on Oct. 7th – when fashionistas across the country can put their style sense toward helping traumatized children. On that “Focus Day,” a percentage of all St. John sales at select department stores and boutiques will be donated to Childhelp.
Participating department stores include Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Marshall Fields/Macys, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus and Belk, as well as all St. John Boutiques. Several retailers will also host special in-store events to celebrate the day’s charitable focus. Visit www.stjohnknits.com for the full list of retailers.
Scottsdale-based Childhelp, one of the leading non-profits dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, was chosen this year by St. John to benefit from the luxury label’s commitment to children’s causes. Individual fundraising events were held throughout 2006 at various St. John locations to spotlight the upcoming Oct. 7th national grand finale.
“We are profoundly grateful for the generosity of such a beloved fashion icon as St. John in supporting our mission to heal the hurting children in our country,” said Sara O’Meara, who co-founded Childhelp along with Yvonne Fedderson. Both women are also 2005 and 2006 Nobel Peace nominees.
“Childhelp exists to meet the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of abused and neglected children. We were touched and thrilled when St. John offered to lend its heart and name, because this type of outreach returns full circle to the children who so badly need our love and care,” said Yvonne Fedderson.
