This year, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, Childhelp is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to generosity and the philanthropic spirit.
Giving Tuesday is a movement that inspires change in how people think, talk about and participate in the giving season. Last year, more than 45,000 organizations in 71 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday. This global initiative has transformed the holidays with hope. It has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that have brought about real change in communities. Businesses, charities, and families promote this as a day to give back.
Yvonne, Fedderson, Co-Founder and President of Childhelp, describes the holidays and #GivingTuesday as a day to share more than your treasure: “It’s about sharing your heart, for the love of a child.”
We invite you to join the movement, to celebrate generosity and to give.
During the holidays, a seemingly joyful time is often one of risk for children in dangerous households. This can be the busiest season for agencies working with families as stress rises and incidences of abuse increase. Survivors can be triggered during this season when PTSD symptoms are triggered. From intervening with a child in crisis to counseling a troubled survivor in the middle of the night, our crisis counselors are waiting to help hearts in need.
Donate $5 today and your generosity will fund one call to the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline.
The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline answered over 100,000 calls last year, providing a reassuring voice to many in need of help, advice, or guidance. This 24 hours a day, seven days a week hotline serves the United States, Canada, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Guam. Staffed with professional counselors, this confidential service offers crisis intervention, information, literature and referrals to emergency, social service, and support resources. Sometimes having someone to talk things out can be the difference between life and death.
Co-Founder and CEO, Sara O’Meara believes miracles take place when a child is rescued with love, nurtured with care and inspired by hope. “I believe every child deserves the right to be free from abuse and neglect in order to reach his or her ultimate potential. Childhelp changes lives and we are honored to have shepherded millions of children to safety with God’s help.”
