ROCKVILLE BUSINESSES KICK OFF NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH WITH STYLE
Phoenix – March 17, 2015 – Children from Childhelp Alice C. Tyler Village will be the guests of honor on April 6 for a salon day at David’s Beautiful People in Rockville, Md.
The event will help kick off National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the month-long observance through April that encourages people and communities to work together in the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
The salon offered 22 village residents new haircuts, and for the young ladies, manicures too. Joining in the spirit of giving, transportation to and from the salon is being provided by DC Tours, and to make sure no one leaves hungry, CiCi’s Pizza next door is providing free pizza lunch to each child. Local entertainment is expected for the children while they wait.
The coiffing for a cause was coordinated by the Philanthropy and Causes Committee at CapitalSource, a division of Pacific Western Bank. CapitalSource has supported Childhelp for nearly a decade, but this latest endeavor sprung from a single chance encounter.
“I was having my hair done,” explained Scarlett Sasscer, the Chevy Chase Office Manager at Pacific Western Bank, “and asked the owner if he would be interested in participating in an event with Childhelp.” After hearing a little more, David Cohen, who opened the salon in 1973, and the rest of his team were very excited. “The event took off before I had time to fully plan it,” Sasscer added.
