Abuse causes significant negative impacts with children often experiencing short- and long-term physical, mental, and behavioral consequences. And the impact is often experienced well into adulthood. Adults abused as a child can experience increased risk of mental health problems, chronic illness or physical disease, relationship difficulties, and future victimization.
Early and ongoing, evidence-based prevention across all ages and stages isn’t optional—it’s essential. Together, we can prevent abuse and create a world where every child grows up safe and healthy!
Childhelp offers aligned youth-focused and adult-focused programs for educating and empowering all youth and adults in a community.
Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe is for children and youth in grades Pre-K through 12 and is often delivered in schools, early education/daycare centers, after-school programs, and other youth-serving organizations.
Childhelp Connect to Protect Kids is for adults and can be delivered in any community setting, such as schools, youth-serving organizations, sports programs, faith-based organizations, or parent groups.
Childhelp programs include concepts informed by the latest research and prevention best practices. Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe is recognized as “supported by research evidence” (level-2) by the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse (www.CEBC.org) and to our knowledge is the only such program that is evidence-based for all grades levels, Pre-K – 12. All of our other curricula and modules are evidence-informed, ensuring they are impactful and effective. We are committed to ongoing research to ensure the efficacy of all of our programs and will publish additional research as studies are completed.
